“Discover Vanuatu, make new friends, share laughter” is a good theme for this year’s Tok Tok Vanuatu which has the assistance of Tanna, Santo and Ambrym tourism businesses – the islands overseas visitors are particularly interested to visit. There is so much more of the real Vanuatu out there and it is good the organizers of this year’s celebration of Vanuatu tourism excellence are finding the truly Vanuatu experience will encourage new visitors as well as new Ni-Vanuatu investment. Tok Tok Vanuatu is actively ‘on’ throughout this week.

Sadly, a French woman tourist was assaulted and robbed last week as Vanuatu was preparing for the Tok Tok event. However, the Vanuatu Daily Digest is pleased to be able to report for potential visitors that such occurrences are very rare in this country. (Daily Post)

The return of the patrol vessel the RVS Tukoro was welcomed by Government and the Australian High Commissioner Jeremy Bruer yesterday. Massive repairs have taken place in Australia to cover the damage caused to the vessel during Cyclone Pam. The repairs bill will be costing the Australian Government Vt 215 million. And Tukoro is now ready to resume its anti-illegal fishing activities. (Daily Post)

South Santo roadworks involving grading and maintenance will soon improve the comfort of those tourists inspired by Tok Tok Vanuatu to visit Santo’s more remote locations, rather than just Luganville. Public Works Minister Jotham Napat and contractor Yves Melep signed up for the 63km / Vt 26 million contract on Monday this week. The improved roads will go all the way to Tasinki passing through the glorious bush of South Santo. Medium-sized contracts like this one are developed to benefit especially the local contractor.
