The Supreme Court has agreed with the Opposition that it has a case which must be answered and Constitutional Case No. 2 of 2015 will be heard at 2 pm on Monday. Daily Post reports this today. VBTC News at 6 am did not say anything about the matter. Justice Dudley Aru yesterday afternoon heard the application of the Opposition bloc represented by Ronald Warsal & Co. The Applicants are seeking a court declaration that new Speaker Marcellino Pipite was in error in closing the sitting of the First Ordinary Session of Parliament in breach of their rights under Articles 6 (1), (2), 43 (2) and 53 (1), (2) of the Constitution. They are also seeking an order that Parliament be reconvened as soon as possible to hear the motion of MPs Natpei and Lini of no confidence in new PM Kilman. Pipite is represented by Robin Kapapa and the Republic by the State Law Office. The Speaker is to file responses by 1.30 pm today. The Applicants have until 4.30 pm today to further respond and final submissions by Speaker Pipite will be needed by 11.30 am on Monday for the 2 pm hearing of the Supreme Court.
