The Parliament sitting was adjourned a few minutes ago until Monday morning to give MPs the chance to carefully study the many Bills before them.

The Budget Sitting of Parliament was opened this morning by President Lonsdale. The press has reported the opening, live on Radio Vanuatu and with Daily Post listing the new Bills, 19 Amendment Bills and of course the Appropriations Act. New Acts of Parliament will also include Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters, a Land Transport Bill, Statute Law – Miscellaneous Provisions, and a Planted Forests Act.

The Vanuatu National Council, of Women announces Anita Deroin Acting President of the VNCW following the resignation of Blandine Boulekone reported a week ago.

Daily Post reports a double murder taking place on Akham Island of two men, one aged 65 and the other in his mid-40s, following allegations of witchcraft. Police are investigating.

Daily Post Letters today carries a particularly interesting reply to MP Willie Jimmy concerning the Destination area relocation of residents. The letter comes from the custom owning family’s representative Bob Kalfabun.
