Vanuatu Presidential election continues Thurs.

There was no President of the Republic elected today in the meeting to choose such a person …

At the end of today’s sitting of the Electoral College, Chief Justice Lunabek in his official capacity to supervise the poll, ordered members of the College to meet again tomorrow. The CJ said: "Whilst members sat in a 2 o’clock meeting as prescribed in Chapter 104 of the Constitution, the result from the Electoral College shows that the College has not been able to elect one single person as President following the requirements of the Constitution. I, Vincent Lunabek, Chief Justice of the Republic of Vanuatu, in exercise of the powers given to me under sections 8, 10 and 11 order that an election for the President of the Republic will take place 18 September at 9’oclock. So the election continues tomorrow.
